Venue: The Black Heart
Headline Act: Victor Griffin (Solo Acoustic)
Desertscene are pleased to announce that doom legend Victor Griffin will be bringing his unique solo acoustic show to The Black Heart.
Notable for his work as guitarist for Pentagram and Death Row, as well as adding vocals to the mix with Place of Skulls, Griffin has been a staple of the doom scene since the early 80s. As Pentagram's longest serving guitarist, he has been responsible for may of the greatest riffs in the history of trad doom. In recent years, as well as reclaiming his spot in Pentagram, Griffin has launched his own project, In-Graved, who played barnstorming sets at 2013's Desertfest London and Berlin.
In October, however, we're in for a change of pace. Griffin will be appearing for a stripped-down, solo set which draws upon influences from his early years. Speaking of the show, Griffin says, "I've been set on this project for a long time. In younger days I wanted to run from my roots...but the influence of 50's, 60's, & 70's country music ingrained early on has never left me. It just took a lot of traveling and living to fully appreciate the heritage."
Performing tracks from iconic artists such as George Jones, Merle Haggard, David Alan Coe, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Gregg Allman, & Steppenwolf, as well as unplugged versions of classic Pentagram / Death Row and Place of Skulls songs, Griffin's set will be a special, intimate night.
