Desertscene, in association with Sound of Liberation, are pleased to announce we'll be bringing the monster line-up of Greenleaf, The Atomic Bitchwax and Steak to The Underworld on the Friday 1st December.

Starting life as a side-project of Dozer's Tommi Holappa and Bengt Bäcke - as well as Daniel Lidén of Demon Cleaner and Peder Bergstrand of Lowrider - Greenleaf have grown far beyond the side-project monicker into one of the leading lights of the European stoner rock scene.

Spanning almost two decades, the band has seen quite a revolving door of members, but for every lineup change Greenleaf has seen, they've added more to their sound; as their extensive back catalogue shows. From 2000's self-titled EP, right through to 2016's pounding Rise Above the Meadow, Greenleaf's hard rock/stoner hybrid has evolved and grown; and that sound is best experienced live. Their domination on the very first day of the debut incarnation of Desertfest London in 2012 was, for many, the first great memory taken from the annual juggernaut.

Not only are Greenleaf in town but they'll also be joined by The Atomic Bitchwax. Formed in 1993 and originally starting life as a jam band, The Atomic Bitchwax have grown into one of the signature bands of the stoner rock scene. Celebrated for their tripped out licks and driven songwriting, TAB's influence on the noughties stoner scene is undeniable. From those opening few distorted seconds of 'Stork Theme' on 1999's self-titled, right through to the closing moments of 'Ice Age (Hey Baby)' on 2015's Gravitron, Bitchwax have always brought the killer stomp.

Throughout their first four releases - the numbered years - Bitchwax made their presence felt by writing timeless anthems for the scene, from 'Shit kicker' to 'Liquor Queen' to 'Hey Alright'. In 2011, they released The Local Fuzz, a sprawling monument to the riff of almost preposterous proportions; an experimental 40 minute instrumental track of over 50 riffs that pushed TAB further out into the reaches of psych than any of their previous recorded work. By the time last 2015's Gravitron rolled around though, Bitchwax were back to their traditional style whilst holding on to the intensity of their previous album.
