Leading California label Ripple brings their take on heavy rock to London. Home to acts such as Mothership, Wo Fat and Freedom Hawk, Ripple brings four of their finest fuzzed-out riff acts to the Black Heart for Ripplefest this September. Ripple shared the following:
“We at Ripple could not be more excited to be collaborating with our dear friends at Desertscene to bring you the first ever Ripplefest in London! It is our honour to bring you four of the most exciting bands from the Ripple roster for what promises to be a truly memorable evening. London has been a hub of rock and roll since its inception, and bringing our sound to one of the city’s most infamous clubs will be a major landmark for us. It has been a high priority of ours over the last year to expand our brand in Europe, and this is a thrilling next step.”
The power trios of the late ’60s and early ’70s are the blueprint for Stubb’s loud, hard-driving, fuzzed-up heavy blues rock. The band recorded their first full length album for UK label Superhot Records, and hit the road, gigging with such heavy rock luminaries as the Gentlemans Pistols, Firebird, Cherry Choke, Steak, Sungrazer and The Machine as well as appearing at Desertfest to a packed house. Making the trip over to Europe twice with Stone Axe from the USA further cemented Stubb’s reputation as a solid live act with some serious chops. Quickly, their debut album sold out and fans of heavy rock have been waiting eagerly for their sophomore effort. Now, Ripple Music is proud to deliver Cry of the Ocean, a blissed-out new album that will cement Stubb’s reputation in the hierarchy of heavy rock bands.
War Cloud is a young band but far from wide-eyed innocents. Their musical history drenched in molten riffs across the timeline of heavy metal, the name alone originates from a Wicked Lady song of the same title. With roots encompassing Tony's tenure in San Francisco's heavy thrash tinged Hell Fire, Carson's melding of hard rock rhythm and old-school groove on bass, and Joaquin pounding his drums as if possessed by the ghost of John Bonham himself. War Cloud has created a new flavour of heavy rock music for those enjoying past meals served up by the likes of Pentagram, UFO, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath. September marks their first European tour!
Hailing from the city of Bradford in Yorkshire Country, England, Psychlona coalesced quickly with laid-back soundscapes, fuzz-driven grooves, and weighty yet flowing riff power they mutually loved. The ambitious and motivated foursome wasted no time writing and self-releasing their debut album while simultaneously organizing and hosting their own music festival, Idle Fest, all with the goal of taking their sound global. Psychlona floats easily between Boogie Van-era Fu and early Orange Goblin, stirred with the occasional spoonsful of Spirit Caravan to doom things out. Of course, no matter how far they ride in any direction, Sky Valley is always just over the horizon...
Formed in late 2014 on the island of Guernsey, Lord Vapour have endeavoured to produce huge riff fuelled music interlaced with groovy bass lines and pounding drums whilst also bringing through heavy elements of psychedelic rock along with subtle elements of funk, doom and 70s rock. Founded by Joe Le Long, Christiaan Mariess and Henry Fears, from the start the band had clearly found a niche that their small island home of Guernsey had never experienced before: A combination of groovy headbanging riffs and drawn out psychedelic jams, Lord Vapour has the appeal of rockers of yesterday, modern music goers and everyone in between. The bands ability to combine many different elements into individual songs and the power behind their catchy riffs has people hooked on their sound.
The headbanging continues downstairs post-riffs with DJs spinning until late!
