Desertscene in association with Sound of Liberation are proud to announce one of stoner rock's founding fathers, Brant Bjork, will be be bringing the desert vibes to The Garage on November 9th.

For most, being a progenitor of a music scene would be enough of an achievement for several lifetimes, but, much like his former Kyuss compatriots, Brant Bjork has continued to shape the tripped-out edges of the underground long past the band's split in 1996. Almost immediately finding himself a place behind the sticks of the then fledgling Fu Manchu from '97 to '01, it was during this time Bjork began to work on his first solo material.

What followed was 1999's profoundly hypnotic Jalamanta; an ode to everything laid-back, mellowed-out and grooved-low. Featuring Brant Bjork on all instruments (with the exception of additional guitars from Yawning Man's Gary Arce and Mario Lalli), Jalamanta is the purest embodiment of summertime vibes captured on record, propelling him from one of the stoner scene's pivotal drummers into an all round legend of psych.

In the near 20 years that have followed, double B has released over half a dozen strictly solo records right through to 2016's sublime Tao of the Devil; all of which radiate the haze of the desert and, excitingly, all of which are due for reissue via Heavy Psych Sounds alongside his upcoming full length.

Joining Brant Bjork for the night are Copenhagen’s psychedelic trio The Sonic Dawn. Infused with 60s psych without ever dwelling too much in the past, the night’s main support are a chilled-out haze of an experience and the perfect accompaniment to the night’s headline act. Releasing two sublime full lengths, 2015’s Perception and last year’s Into the Long Night, both of which encapsulate a sun-soaked vibe underpinned with an understated groove, The Sonic Dawn are not to be missed.
