Desertscene are ecstatic to announce that Massachusetts heavy psych trio Elder will be over at The Underworld, Camden on August 9th.
As reigning kings of the stoner rock scene, Elder are a band who have grown not just in their reputation but also their sound. Their self titled debut album saw the band showcase an impressive array of straight-up stoner riffs gaining them early acclaim. After evolving into something more based in heavy psych with 2011's Dead Roots Stirring, the band reemerged in 2015 with the masterful Lore, which injected a dose of prog into the band's sound. As a result, Elder's live shows are stuffed with the best aspects from all corners of the stoner scene.
Riding high on an incredible 2015, which saw the band get top spot in both the editors and readers album of the year polls over at The Obelisk with the staggering Lore, Elder capitalised with stunning live performances, including their triumphant slots at 2016s Desertfests in London and Berlin and last year's huge UK tour with Cough. With a new album set to be ready in June, just in time for the show, we can only wait excitedly to see where Elder will take us next. The only thing for sure is, it's going to riff hard.
They will be joined at the show by Rochester, New York's psychedelic breakthrough band King Buffalo. Catching the attention of all yard sticks of the stoner rock scene, - including JJ of The Obelisk, who could not praise them enough on the Desertscene Podcast - King Buffalo's 2016 release, Orion, is one hell of a confident debut album, making no second guesses in its assured stride. Opening the show are London's own Sedulus, who released their first full length The Sleepers Awaken last year.
Sure to be one of the most tripped out shows of the year, don't miss your chance to catch psych masters at The Underworld on August 9th. Book your tickets today.
