Desertscene in association with United Talent are proud to announce that West Virginian titans of instrumental stoner rock, Karma To Burn, will be hitting up The Black Heart, Camden on 18th June. Not only that, they’ll be supported by the UK's own Desert Storm.

Karma to Burn define power trio. Founded in 1993 in Morgantown, West Virginia, they quickly realised their brand of chugging grooves didn’t need vocals, even if their first label didn’t agree. Once their self-titled debut was out of the way, K2B found the freedom to release the one-two punch of Wild, Wonderful Purgatory and Almost Heathen; both albums masterpieces of instrumental heavy, cementing their place as a respected force in underground music.

After a seven year hiatus in the mid-noughties, Karma to Burn returned in 2009, quickly delivering their comeback album, 2010’s Appalachian Incantation. Proving just why we all fell in love with the band to begin with, the album is so full of riffs that they could afford to save their collaboration with stoner rock’s founding father, John Garcia, for the bonus edition. Since returning, Karma to Burn have more than made up for lost time, with consistent touring which includes their headline slot at the very first night of the very first Desertfest London in 2012. Most recently releasing Mountain Czar in 2016, the band’s first album with solidified lineup of founding guitarist Will Mecum alongside drummer Evan Devine and bassist Eric Clutter, the album proves that twenty-five years in, there are still plenty of riffs left in Karma to Burn yet.

Support for the night comes from Desert Storm, who immediately brought the underground to Oxford upon their 2007 formation. With an undercurrent of southern groove and edges of heavier, sludgier fare, Desert Storm are every bit as explosive as their namesake. Releasing five albums, including this year’s Sentinels, and a fantastic split with Suns of Thunder for Desertfest Berlin ‘16, their raucous sound has found them a well earned slot supporting bands from Weedeater to The Atomic Bitchwax to Crowbar when they pass through Europe. Desert Storm are, simply put, a drinking band, so have your pint in hand at The Black Heart on June 18th when they play alongside Karma to Burn. Book your tickets today.
