Desertscene are ecstatic to once again be bringing Massachusetts’ heroes of the underground Elder over for a tour of the UK between the 30th September and 5th October. They’ll be joined throughout the cross-country tour by heavy proggers Ancestors.
As reigning kings of the stoner rock scene, Elder are an entity that has grown not just in their reputation but also their sound. Their self titled debut album saw the band showcase an impressive array of straight-up stoner riffs, gaining them early acclaim. After evolving into something more based in heavy psych with 2011's Dead Roots Stirring, the band reemerged in 2015 with the masterful Lore which is where Elder began to be recognised as one of the finest bands in the underground today.
An album which injected a dose of prog into the band's sound, Lore was almost universally recognised within the scene as album of the year, earning the top spots in both the editors and readers album of the year polls over at The Obelisk, as well as countless other accolades across the world of heavy. Staggeringly, Elder followed up their success with last year’s Reflections of a Floating World, which dives headfirst deeper into the well of prog that touched their previous record and was everything but a step down. Mesmerising to catch live - a fact which only grows more evident with every release and the ever more diverse pool of material to work with - Elder will leave you out of your body wherever they play.
Joining them throughout the tour are LA’s Ancestors who bring prog filtered through heavy riffs. Their debut release, Of Sound Mind is reminiscent almost of A Saucerful of Secrets era Pink Floyd, whilst their latest release, 2012’s In Dreams and Time is a masterpiece of loud and has been begging for a follow up for the past six years. Fortunately for us, new music is coming soon and is sure to get an outing throughout their UK tour. Be sure not to miss two of the finest bands in the underground when they pass through your part of the UK from September 30th to October 5th. Book your tickets today.
